Dockery elected to Made to Flourish Board of Directors
David S. Dockery, president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, has been elected as the newest member of the Made to Flourish (MTF) Board of Directors, a national network for pastors dedicated to empowering pastors and churches to integrate faith, work, and economic wisdom for the flourishing of their communities.
Committed to whole life discipleship, MTF seeks to help Christ followers connect Sunday to Monday by developing a Christian understanding of worldview, wisdom, and work. Founded by Tom Nelson, who now serves as the ministry’s executive chairman, MTF seeks to help churches and individual believers bring the Christian faith to bear on every sphere of life.
Nelson expressed his great enthusiasm for Dockery’s willingness to serve with Made to Flourish at this time: “I believe David Dockery is one of the leading minds in Christian education today. His remarkable insight and timeless wisdom will make an invaluable and lasting contribution to the shaping of the next generation of pastors and Christian leaders.”
When asked why he wanted to serve on the MTF board, Dockery noted that “in addition to my lofty admiration and appreciation for Tom Nelson, my own commitments to Christian worldview formation and whole life discipleship matched well with those of Made to Flourish.”
Dockery has previously served on other boards, including the Colson Center for Christian Worldview, Prison Fellowship (where he held the Carl Henry Chair), TouchstoneMagazine, Christianity Today International, the Evangelical Theological Society (chair), the Consortium for Global Education (chair), the International Alliance for Baptist Colleges and Universities, the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association, the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (chair), the American Academy of Ministry, the International Alliance for Christian Education, and several others in addition to several advisory roles such as his current commitment to Lifeline Children’s Services.
