Dr. Atkinson serves as Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies at Texas Baptist College. Prior to his service at TBC, Dr. Atkinson served as a pastor at Immanuel Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky as well as the director of Communications for the Immanuel Network. Dr. Atkinson also previously served as a theological consultant for the Strategic Resource Group.

Dr. Atkinson has taught adjunctly at the Union School of Theology (Wales, UK) as well as in secondary education at Sayer’s Classical Academy. He has published book reviews in the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, Journal for the Evangelical Study of the Old Testament, The Southern Baptist Journal of Theology, and the Midwestern Journal of Theology. He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society.

A native of Northern Ireland, Dr. Atkinson is married to Janaye, and they have seven children: Owen, Walter, Evelyn, Margaret, Anna, Alfred, and Louisa.
