I graduated with my Bachelors in Biology Fall of 2016 with the intention of going to veterinary school, but after spiritually wrestling with God I knew that my call was not vet school but to enter the ministry. (Genesis 32:24-30) I faced a lot of opposition from my family as they felt that I was throwing away my life by entering a vocation that would not be financially substantial to sustain a family. Despite the opposition, I decided to pursue seminary and begin my MDiv at Logsdon Seminary Fall of 2016 and was later sponsored by my home church to transfer to Southwestern. My current plans are to graduate Spring of 2021 and continue my studies by pursuing a ThM degree.
I graduated with my B.S. in Biology from a small liberal arts university in Georgia Spring of 2020. I have always loved God’s creation in nature, and have especially loved animals, so I expected that I might pursue a career in wildlife. However, God stirred up a new passion in me for international ministry during my undergraduate career. I ended up joining the international club at my university and immediately recognized the amazing opportunity to serve and have gospel conversations with people from across the world. After graduating, I wanted to seek the Lord’s will for me in international ministry and missions, which led me to Southwestern. Now, I am pursuing an M.T.S – Concentration in Cross-Cultural Missions to prepare me for whatever the Lord has next.
I was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. I grew up in a Christian family and while all of my environment was Christian, I never took a conscious decision to follow Christ. While I was in middle school I realized there was a world out there that offered me things that I knew God didn’t like. It was there where I had to take a decision on who I wanted to follow; Christ or the world. I was 15 when I decided to follow Christ and my life was forever changed. After I graduated high school I decided to study Bachelors in Nutrition and Food Science. Two years into my degree, I had a very clear calling of the Lord to leave everything and surrender my life to the ministry. Today, me and my fiancée David are students at Southwestern and are very excited to start our adventure together serving in ministry full time. I am pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies at Scarborough College and hope to serve in the youth ministry, counseling middle school age girls.
